In the artist’s Fractile series, the myth and ephemeral presence of narcissus is further obscured – here layers of encaustic lacquer seem to drown the beautiful flowers. It is as if in trying to preserve beauty we begin to erase the edges of our identity, the large-scale paintings rendered nearly monochrome until closer inspection reveals a highly textured surface–an all-white surface that belies a deep history of beauty, decay, and natural course of aging.
