BITCH

An addition to Hovnanian’s Acronym Neon series, BITCH reclaims a codified word using an acronym, the new language of our digital age. Here, BITCH becomes a positively-charged word that rewrites its history as one that was used to demean women. In our online contemporary culture, the anonymity of commenting from behind a keyboard leads to a rise in cyber-harassment. Created in conjunction with the artist’s 2018 exhibition series The Women’s Trilogy Project, BITCH seeks to usher in a wave of re-definitions.
